The 2019 Ford Expedition will build on the sterling impression made by its all-new next-generation full-size SUV in the 2018 model year. Though nothing is yet known about the 2019 Expedition, it will certainly provide drivers and passengers with a deft combination of space, versatility, and capability as well as the latest in-vehicle design, technology, and performance.
Trim Levels
We expect the Ford Expedition's trim lineup to carry over from 2018, including the base XLT, Limited, and top-tier Platinum. The SYNC® infotainment system, power-fold seats in the third row, rear seat climate control, 18-inch wheels, and a Class IV trailer hitch are expected to be among the standard features on the entry-level XLT, while features expected to be offered on the range-topping Platinum include an 8-inch touchscreen, leather-trimmed steering wheel, heated second row seats, and a suite of driver assist and alert features.
Technology
The available navigation system, 8-inch touchscreen, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are offered on higher trims, while the tech on the base model may remain unchanged. Other optional features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-headrest rear-seat entertainment system, and a 12-speaker audio system.
Performance & Safety
Expect the 2019 Ford Expedition to bring back the mighty 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which produces 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque on the XLT and Limited trims and 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque on the top-of-the-line Platinum. As is the case for the 2018 Expedition, the 2019 model should mate the V6 to a 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, and drivers will be able to opt for a two- or four-wheel drivetrain.
The 2019 Ford Expedition may be one of the next vehicles to receive Ford Co-Pilot360™, a suite of cutting-edge driver-assist technologies that are offered as standard equipment. Including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Keeping System, Ford Co-Pilot360 would make the Expedition a top choice for safety at any trim level.
