A majority of Ranger and F-150 trucks are purchased with four-wheel drive, and the leveling kits will enable off-road explorers to venture into even more challenging terrain. Dealer-installed off-road leveling kits for Ford trucks include things like new aluminum FOX shock bodies designed to provide ample cooling capacity over rough terrain and new front coilover springs deliver optimal spring rate. They also include vehicle-specific upper front mounts with polyurethane bushings that help to isolate noise and vibration, as well as 2-inch front lifts that levels the truck from front to rear.

With these kits installed, both the Ranger and the F-150 get improved ground clearance and better approach and breakover angles. To be exact, the Ranger sees about a 21 percent increase in approach angle and a 10 percent increase in breakover angle. Engineers for the Ranger chose 2-stage parabolic leaf springs because of their flexible, low-friction design which enables more axle movement and flexibility. This also reduces stiffness compared to conventional multi-leaf springs that are usually used in high-load applications. All of these benefits combine to deliver better ride quality and control to the new Ranger.
